No Spin / Error on Display
Position sensor, drive stage or door lock — diagnosed in order of likelihood, fixed on the spot where possible.
LG's Inverter Direct Drive platform is reliable — until the position sensor, drain pump or door lock says otherwise. Brand-trained LG repairs, doorstep.
LG washing machines stand apart with their Inverter Direct Drive (DD) motor — no belt, motor bolted straight to the drum — plus Smart Diagnosis and ThinQ app connectivity across FHM, FHV, FHP front load and T80/T90 top load families. These strengths come with their own fault patterns. Where those patterns surface as panel codes, our error-code library maps them brand-first.
Our LG-trained technicians handle: rotor position sensor failures, DD stator and drive-board diagnostics, drain pump and trap blockages (the slow-drain sequence is on our not-draining page), door lock/interlock faults, gasket leaks, Smart Diagnosis app issues and PCB-level electronics — with genuine LG spares only.

Position sensor, drive stage or door lock — diagnosed in order of likelihood, fixed on the spot where possible.
Trap clogs from lint and coins; pump impeller wear on older units. Cleaned or replaced with genuine pumps.
Torn door boots replaced with LG-correct gaskets, drum spider checked for related play.
Power section, relays and connectors repaired at board level before we ever quote a full board swap.
This is the working fault map our LG technicians carry in their heads — series and platform on the left, the failure pattern it produces, and the component we test first. It's also why an LG repair starts with platform identification, never with blind parts swapping. When the symptom is a tub that thumps or walks instead, our vibration fix guide covers the homeowner checks first.
| Series / Platform | Typical fault pattern | Component involved | Service approach |
|---|---|---|---|
| FHM/FHV front loaders (Direct Drive) | LE / no-spin, jerky 6 Motion | Rotor position sensor, wiring | Sensor and drive-stage testing before any motor swap |
| T-series top loads (belt-driven) | Weak spin, squeal under load | Drive belt, clutch | Tension and clutch measurement, correct-rated parts |
| ThinQ / Smart Diagnosis models | Connectivity loss after board work | Wi-Fi module, main PCB | Re-pairing and full diagnostic cycle after service |
| All platforms — drainage | Slow drain, gurgling pump | Drain impeller, trap | Trap clear-out first; genuine pump if impeller is worn |

Direct Drive models depend on the rotor position (hall) sensor telling the control board exactly where the drum is. A failing sensor or its wiring makes the board refuse to drive the motor. We test the sensor and drive stage, then replace only what's failed.
Yes — genuine LG spares sourced through authorised suppliers, with the part shown to you before installation and its warranty recorded on your invoice.
Usually yes for sensor, pump, valve, belt-free drive and door lock issues — LG motors and drums age well. For a major drum bearing job on a base model, compare against our honest repair-or-replace guide.
6 Motion is the drum choreography — stepping, scrubbing, rolling and tumbling patterns the Direct Drive motor reproduces on command. When a motion pattern drops out or agitation turns jerky, the rotor position sensor or its wiring is usually feeding the board bad data, not the drum. We map the fault to the exact motion stage before replacing anything; the drive side is covered on our motor repair page.
UE is the unbalance code — the load can't distribute and spin is withheld, often fixable by redistribution or suspension work (see our LG UE guide). LE is drive-side — the board isn't getting correct motor position feedback, pointing at the hall sensor, its wiring or the drive stage (see LE decode). Both follow different diagnosis trees, so don't let anyone conflate them.
Not all — LG's front load FHM/FHV families run the beltless Inverter Direct Drive, while many India-market top loaders use a belt-and-pulley drive with a clutch, which adds belt wear and clutch slip to the fault profile. Knowing which platform yours is changes the diagnosis order entirely. Our top load service covers the belt-driven side.
The door interlock holds the latch through a cooldown period after heated cycles — that part is normal. If it stays locked well past that, the interlock solenoid or the board's lock circuit has failed. We test the interlock coil and its release path before replacing anything; see our door-won't-open guide.
A healthy pump hums evenly; a failing one rattles as the impeller strikes debris, gurgles unevenly, or hums without pumping at all when the impeller is jammed. Lint, coins and bra wires in the trap cause most of it, so we clear the trap before condemning the pump. Persistent slow drains get a genuine LG pump assembly under our drain pump replacement.
Board-level repair is usually possible — the power section, relays, triacs and connectors fail far more often than the whole PCB. We repair at component level first and quote a full board swap only when the microcontroller or multi-point damage says otherwise. The economics are laid out on our PCB repair page.
Your manufacturer's machine warranty covers specified assemblies per LG's own terms; once we fit a genuine part out of warranty, the warranty on that fitted part is what we record on your invoice — a separate paper trail. Keep the job sheet alongside your purchase documents so both stay clean. If the decision is close, our repair-or-replace guide helps you weigh it honestly.
Brands rely on shared component science — drum bearings, drain pumps and control boards fail the same way across makes. These related services, fault guides and brand pages complete the picture.
Direct-drive platforms rarely fail at belts — drum feedback, door interlocks and drain timing carry the wear instead. Decode any display code in the error-code library, or call +91 88387 31075 for a same-day doorstep slot.
